Faber, Lothar von
(12 jun. 1817, Stein, Baviera–26 jul. 1896, Stein).

Fabricante alemán de productos para escribir y materiales de arte. Faber se hizo cargo del negocio familiar de lápices en Baviera y lo transformó en una empresa con presencia mundial al establecer sucursales en toda Europa y en EE.UU., y suscribir en 1856 un contrato de control exclusivo de toda la producción minera de grafito de Siberia. En 1849, su hermano John Eberhard Faber (n. 1822–m. 1879) se radicó en EE.UU., donde construyó una gran planta manufacturera Faber. La sociedad Eberhard Faber Pencil Co. se constituyó en EE.UU. en 1898 y ese mismo año la empresa alemana cambió su razón social a Faber-Castell. La empresa actual, Faber-Castell AG, fabrica lapiceras, lápices y materiales de arte.
